Have you ever heard the expression “it’s what it’s”? What does that expression mean exactly?
Before I understood the deeper meaning with this expression, I envisioned an emaciated yogi guru in the lotus position floating above the bottom imperiously imparting wisdom that could take scholars multiple lifetimes to interpret. Since how this is my last life on the planet and the lotus position would put me in traction, I knew that consulting the Course In Miracles would help me clarify its meaning.
What is the IT that we are currently talking about here? Based on the Course in Miracles, IT is truth, specifically God’s truth. How come it very important to best acim podcast emphasize that it’s God’s truth? Because God’s the fact is not open to interpretations whereas a human’s truth is. Multiple versions of human truth have result in an array of religions. The Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia defines religion as a “system of thought, feeling, and action that is shared by way of a group and that offers the members an item of devotion.”
Who devised the device of thought? On whose feelings are these thoughts based? Are actions really necessary? Based on the Course In Miracles, God just is and our ultimate goal is to return to an ideal state of being. There is no thought or action in their state to be, you merely are. What mustn’t be forgotten may be the underlying thread of religions: God is creator, God is love and we’re all perfect and infinite children of God.
Put another way, “it’s what it’s” can be rewritten to “God’s love is the only real truth and it’s absolute” and this truth knows no bounds and is timeless.
